Let’s Talk Sports

Let’s Talk Sports is what happens when two guys who probably spend too much time watching sports are given microphones for an hour. Hosted by Eric Warsinskey and Owen VanDemark, the Friday afternoon show mixes local high school sports, college and pro sports, bad predictions, questionable opinions, gambling talk, arguments that probably do not need to happen and whatever else sends the conversation off the rails that week. Eric was born and raised in Strongsville, Ohio, before eventually making stops in Oklahoma and Michigan. A long-suffering Cleveland sports fan, he is also a die-hard Ohio State and West Virginia fan who somehow ended up living in the heart of Michigan rivalry territory. After spending roughly a decade in Oklahoma, Eric moved to Michigan and brought with him a background as a former sports editor and reporter covering high school athletics. He tends to be the one digging into the history of teams, rivalries and players, while occasionally reminding everyone about something that happened before Owen was born. Owen is the young buck of the show. A Caro High School alumnus and former Tigers soccer player, he recently turned 21 and brings a much different perspective to the conversation. Owen is especially at home talking NBA basketball, gambling, odds and whatever bet seemed like a good idea at the time. The two also make up WIDL’s Game of the Week broadcast team, with Eric handling play-by-play and Owen serving as color commentator for high school football broadcasts across the Thumb. Let’s Talk Sports airs Fridays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on WIDL 92.1 FM, immediately before the Game of the Week pregame show. The show may technically be about sports, but staying completely on topic has never really been the point.
